ABSTRACT:
Baground:
The increasing demand for natural and safe cosmetic products has led to the growing use of herbal ingredients in cosmeceuticals. Marigold (Tagetes erecta) is a medicinal plant rich in bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, carotenoids, and essential oils, known for their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. This study focuses on the potential of marigold flower as an effective ingredient in herbal cosmetic formulations. Methods: Marigold flower were shade-dried and extracted using petroleum ether and ethanol via Soxhlet extraction. The obtained extract was incorporated into various cosmetic formulations, including facial serum, face scrub gel, anti-aging cream, peel of mask, emollient cream, herbal lipstick, face wash, and anti-acne gel. These Formulations were evaluated using standard Parameters such as pH, spreadability, homogeneity, washability, irritability, stability, and phase separation. Results: All developed formulations showed good physical appearance, stability, and compatibility with skin pH. The presence of marigold extract enhanced the antioxidant, antimicrobial, and soothing properties of the products. The formulations demonstrated satisfactory spreadaility, easy washability, and no significant skin irritation. Stability studies indicated that the products remained stable umnder different temperature humidity condition. Conclusion: Marigold flower extract is a promising natural ingredient for the development of herbal cosmetics due to its therapeutic properties and safety profile. The study confirms that marigold-based formulations are effective, economical, and suitable alternatives to synthetic cosmetic products, supporting their wider application in the herbal cosmetic industry.
