One of the most significant spices that people use on a daily basis worldwide is cinnamon. Essential oils and various derivatives, including cinnamaldehyde, cinnamic acid, and cinnamate, are the main ingredients of cinnamon. Apart from its numerous health benefits, such as anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, antidiabetic, antibacterial, lipid-lowering, and cardiovascular disease-lowering properties, cinnamon has also been shown to have anti-neurological illnesses, including Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases. This article provides an overview of cinnamon’s pharmacological potential and practical applications. Cinnamon’s medicinal benefits may be attributed to secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, tannins, saponins, steroids, glycosides, coumarins, anthraquinones, and alkaloids.
